# Learn Committed Spending

| Committed Spending shows your upcoming payments for the current period

Committed spending is used to calculate how much you have left to spend for the month, and it is the payments Emma predicts will happen in your period for your budget. Committed Spending can be found in the **Budgeting** section of the Emma **Feed** tab. 

Your upcoming payments are sourced from the **Recurring payments** section in your **Feed** tab. 

### Viewing your committed spending

You can view your Committed Spending by following these steps: 

1. Go to the **Feed** tab
2. Scroll down and select your **Budget** (circle chart)
3. Select **Committed Spending**

### My upcoming payment is excluded

An excluded upcoming payment is likely a credit card repayment or internal transfer. These should remain excluded; otherwise, they'll throw off your analytics. 

If you have an upcoming payment that should be excluded but isn't, you'll need to find all previous payments and categorise them as excluded.

 If you have an upcoming payment that shouldn't be excluded but is, you will need to do the opposite to the above - find all previous payments and categorise them as something other than excluded.

You can find all previous payments by following these steps:

1. Go to the **Feed** tab
2. Select **See all** next to **Transactions**
3. Select the **Search** icon in the top right corner

### One of my upcoming payments is missing

If one of your upcoming payments is missing from your Committed Spending screen, it may not be marked as a recurring payment, or the recurring payment is predicted to be paid outside your period.

If the upcoming payment isn't marked as a recurring payment, it won't show up in Committed Spend. [Follow these steps](https://help.emma-app.com/en/article/add-a-recurring-payment-dri6b5/) to manually add a recurring payment. Currently, you can only include recurring payments in Committed Spending. 

Otherwise, if the upcoming payment is predicted to be paid outside of your current period, you can [follow these steps](https://help.emma-app.com/en/article/amend-a-recurring-payment-rm0jmr/) to edit the Prediction.

### My payment has already been paid, but is still predicted

If your committed spending is still showing a recurring transaction, but you've already made the payment, it may not have been tracked correctly. 

This can happen if the payment is a different amount from usual or occurs on a different date.

You will need to [follow these steps](https://help.emma-app.com/en/article/how-do-i-add-or-remove-a-transaction-from-recurring-payments-1br5oea/) to manually add the recent payment to the recurring transaction information. This will then remove the expectation from your committed spending, but this won't always happen immediately.
