# Rolling Budgets

# What are Rolling Budgets?

Rolling Budgets carry over any leftover or overspent amounts into your next budget period.

For example:

* If your monthly grocery budget is £200 and you spend £160, the remaining £40 will be added to next month’s budget.
 
* If your monthly grocery budget is £200 and you spend £250, the extra £50 will be deducted from next month’s budget.

The rollover amount is calculated at the start of each new budget period, based on how your transactions are categorised at that time.

|| If you edit transactions from a previous budgeting period after a new period has started, those changes will not update the rolled-over balance.

### Setting up a Rolling Budget

To activate Rolling Budgets, follow these steps:

1. Go to the **Feed** tab
2. Scroll down to the **Analytics** section
3. Tap on **Budgeting** (circle chart)
4. Tap the **pencil icon** in the top right corner of the screen
5. Tap **Edit budget**
6. Turn on the **Rolling Budgets** toggle
7. Tap **Save**
