Recurring Offline Transactions

What is a Recurring Offline Transaction?

This feature allows you to automatically add entries for regular, fixed payments within your offline accounts. Since your offline accounts are not linked to a bank and require manual updates, setting up a recurring transaction prevents you from having to enter the same payments (like subscriptions or Standing Orders) repeatedly every month.

Why is this feature useful?

Setting up recurring transactions saves you time and ensures your offline spending data is always accurate without constant manual work.

Good Use Cases:

  • Loan Repayments: If you are regularly paying back a personal loan or car finance that is not connected to Emma, you can set up the monthly repayment amount to automatically appear in your offline account. This ensures your budget accurately reflects your debt obligations.
  • Cash Subscriptions: If you pay for a service (like a gym membership or a weekly personal trainer) in cash, you can set up a weekly or monthly cash withdrawal to reflect that committed expense automatically.

How do I set up a Recurring Offline Transaction?

Follow these simple steps from within the Emma app to set up a new recurring payment:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Open the offline account you want to add this transaction to.
  3. Tap Add transaction.
  4. Input the amount of the payment.
  5. Add a reference (e.g., "Gym Membership").
  6. Select a category.
  7. Select a date and toggle on "Set as recurring."
  8. Select the frequency of this recurring payment.
  9. Tap Save and add transaction.

What frequencies are supported?

You can choose a payment schedule that matches your needs. Supported frequencies include: Daily, Weekly, Fortnightly, Every 4 weeks, Monthly, Every 2 months, Quarterly, Every 6 months, and Yearly.

Please note that this feature is only available to users on the Pro and Ultimate plans 🐻
