Articles on: Transactions

Does Emma learn from my past category edits?

Yes! Emma learns from your edits. If you change the category for a transaction, future transactions with the same reference will automatically follow the new category—as long as most of your past transactions with that reference use it.

For example:

If you have 10 past transactions with a certain reference:

4 transactions marked as 'Category 1'

3 transactions marked as 'Category 2'

3 transactions marked as 'Category 3'

Then, your new transaction will be automatically categorized as 'Category 1', since it has the highest number of past transactions.

Similarly, if you have another 10 past transactions:

6 transactions marked as 'Category 1'

4 transactions marked as 'Category 2'

The new transaction will again default to 'Category 1', because it remains the category with the majority of past uses.

This helps keep your budgeting more accurate over time!

The learning is only applied to category edits
