Exclude a transaction
Excluding a transaction will stop it from being counted towards your spending - If you don't want a transaction to be included in your analytics, exclude it 🛑 This feature is particularly useful if you have made a transfer from one of your bank accounts to another and the transfer is now included in your Income. When you first connect your bank account to Emma via Open Banking, we sync approximately the previous 12 months of your transaction history from the bank account you connect. So if you connected your bank account on the 1st of January this year, it will only show data to the 1st of January of the previous year. This is due to Open Banking regulations. Tags are a quick way to group transactions across different categories. For example, you could create tags like train, flight and fuel for transactions that all fall under the Transport category but that you want to track separately. If you see a transaction in your Emma app that you don't recognise, it's important to remember that Emma aggregates your transactions directly from your linked bank accounts. Emma doesn't create transactions itself; we only display information provided by your bank. Yes! Emma learns from your edits. If you change the category for a transaction, future transactions with the same reference will automatically follow the new category—as long as most of your past transactions with that reference use it. Looking to amend a pending transaction? Currently in Emma, you can't amend pending transactions. When you make a purchase, multiple steps go on behind the scenes between your bank and the merchant/retailer. Pending transactions are temporary and are created to display purchases you've made. They're pending, however, because your bank hasn't yet paid the merchant on your behalf.
