What can affect my credit score?

The credit report and score are only available to UK-based customers.

Several things can raise or lower your credit score, with how you manage your financial accounts having the biggest impact. The main factors are:

  • How you manage your accounts — paying on time, staying well within your credit limits, how long you've held accounts, and whether any are in default
  • Being on the Electoral Register — this shows a stable address history
  • Court records — judgments, bankruptcies, and insolvencies can lower your score
  • Financial connections — people you're financially linked to don't affect your score directly, but a lender may take them into account when you apply

Your credit report and score are provided by TransUnion and are for guidance only. Emma does not provide financial advice.
