What is the Transfers Category?

What is the 'Transfers' category for?

The 'Transfers' category is a new dedicated way to manage money movements between your accounts. It is specifically designed for transactions that shift money, but don't represent new spending or income in your overall budget. This helps keep your analytics and budgeting accurate by preventing double-counting or misrepresentation of your financial activity.

How is 'Transfers' different from the 'Excluded' category?

Both 'Transfers' and 'Excluded' categories remove transactions from your budgeting and analytics pages, but their purpose is different:

  • Excluded: This is a general holding space for transactions you wish to ignore in your spending analysis.
  • Transfers: This category is specifically and exclusively for money moving between your own accounts. It clarifies that the money hasn't been spent or earned, just relocated.

How do I assign a transaction to the 'Transfers' category?

It is very simple to assign a transaction to this category directly in your feed. Follow these steps:

  1. Click into the specific transaction you want to reassign.
  2. Tap on the category currently displayed for that transaction.
  3. Scroll down and pick the Transfers category from the list.

Once you have done this, the transaction will be correctly excluded from your budgeting and spending analytics, reflecting that the money was simply moved between your accounts.
