Emma Wallet is changing — here's what's next
From 30 September 2026, Emma Wallet is closing — here's what this means for you.
What is happening to the Emma Wallet?
We're simplifying how you deposit money into Emma. Instead of adding money to an Emma Wallet first, you'll soon be able to deposit directly into eligible Emma products, such as Pots and Investment accounts, cutting out a step. As part of this change, the Emma Wallet will close on 30 September 2026.
Why is the Emma Wallet closing?
We're closing the Emma Wallet to simplify deposits, so you can pay directly into eligible Emma products, such as Pots and Investment accounts, instead of adding money to a wallet first. This change is also being made alongside an update to the agreement between Currencycloud, the provider of the e-money and payment services behind the Emma Wallet, and Emma Technologies, meaning Currencycloud will stop providing these services from 30 September 2026.
When will my Emma Wallet close?
Your Emma Wallet will remain open until 30 September 2026, unless you ask us to close it earlier. After this date, the Currencycloud account linked to your Emma Wallet will be closed.
Do I need to do anything right now?
No, you do not need to take any action right now. We'll contact you before 30 September 2026 with instructions on how to move any balance in your Emma Wallet and once the new direct deposit option is ready.
What will happen to the money in my Emma Wallet?
You do not need to take any immediate action if you have a balance in your Emma Wallet. Before the Emma Wallet closes on 30 September 2026, we'll give you clear instructions on how to move your balance, including options to:
- Move your balance into an eligible Emma product, such as a Pot or Investment account, or
- Withdraw your balance to your linked bank account.
Full instructions, including what happens if no action is taken before 30 September 2026, are coming soon.
What happens to my Instant Access Pot?
Instant Access Pots run on the same e-money infrastructure as the Emma Wallet, provided by Currencycloud. As part of this change, new Instant Access Pots can no longer be opened, and existing ones can no longer receive new deposits.
If you have Autosave set up to pay into an Instant Access Pot, you'll need to update your Autosave settings to direct funds to an Easy Access Pot or 45 Day Notice Pot instead.
More information, including what happens if no action is taken before 30 September 2026, is coming soon.
Can I close my Emma Wallet before 30 September 2026?
Yes, you can ask us to close your Emma Wallet earlier than 30 September 2026 if you'd prefer not to wait. Contact the support team through live chat in the app or by emailing support@emma-app.com to request this. More information on this process is coming soon.
How will I deposit money into Emma products after the Emma Wallet closes?
You'll be able to deposit directly into eligible Emma products, such as Pots and Investment accounts, without needing to add money to an Emma Wallet first. We'll send a follow-up communication with full details before this new deposit flow goes live, and no action is needed from you until then.
Who provides the Emma Wallet, and why is this changing?
The e-money and payment services behind your Emma Wallet are currently provided by Currencycloud, as part of your arrangement with Emma Technologies. Alongside a change to that agreement, we're taking the opportunity to simplify deposits, retiring the Emma Wallet in favour of depositing directly into eligible Emma products.
Who can I contact if I have questions about my Emma Wallet?
Contact the support team through live chat in the app or by emailing support@emma-app.com if you have any questions about your Emma Wallet.
