What is Emma Autosave? 🇬🇧
What is autosave?
Emma's autosaves are small weekly or monthly amounts collected from your primary bank account and moved to your Emma Pots.
These amounts are processed by using Direct Debit payments with a third-party provider, Bottomline. You can access Bottomline's Privacy Policy here.
Your autosaves are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and the payments will show as “EMMA APP TRANSFER” or "EMMA AUTOSAVE" on your bank statement.
Do I need to set up Autosave when I create an Emma Save account?
Yes, setting up Autosave is a required step when you set up Emma Save. Once it's set up, you can disable it at any time if you don't want to use it.
Your Autosave account must be a UK current account held in your name. If you need help changing your linked account, contact our support team.
How long does it take to set up an autosave?
Autosaves work via Direct Debit, which usually takes between 3 and 10 days to set up with your bank.
What types of autosaves do you support?
We currently support three different autosaving modes. You can choose which mode, or combination of modes, to save with:
- AI Saving - a fully automated mode that calculates the right amount to save. You can find further information here.
- Round Ups - rounds up your spending to the nearest £1 across all your active Emma accounts and adds it together to come up with a final amount to be collected. This mode comes with a multiplier feature that lets you multiply the final amount by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x.
- Custom Deposits - you choose a fixed amount to be collected each autosave.
Where is my money?
The amount to be saved is collected on Wednesday and will land in your Pot the following Monday.
If you have autosaves enabled, you can check the details in the app:
- Go to the Save tab.
- Tap Autosave.
- Tap See All next to Activity.
- Tap on any row to see the details of that autosave - this shows you when the money was collected and deposited, and how the amount was calculated.
Can I change the frequency of autosaves?
Yes, you can. Autosaves can be set to either a weekly or monthly frequency.
The app will notify you of the upcoming collection every Sunday and give you 24 hours to cancel the collection on Monday afternoon.
- Open the app.
- Go to the Save tab.
- Tap Autosave.
- Tap Collection Frequency, located in the Collection details section.
Can I change my allocation?
Yes. Allocation is how you choose for the money to be deposited in Emma.
Funds go into your Pots, and you can set the percentage split between them - for example, 70% to an Easy Access Pot and 30% to a 45 Day Notice Pot.
Your Pot allocation is set the first time you enable Autosave, but you can change it at any time from the main Autosave panel:
- Open the app.
- Go to the Save tab.
- Tap Autosave.
- Tap Allocation, located in the Collection details section.
