Exclude Categories
What is Category Exclusion?
This new feature allows you to exclude an entire category (like "Transfers," "Investments," or "Savings") from your budgeting and analytical tools.
Previously, you had to manually exclude transactions one by one. Now, by excluding the whole category, you can ensure that large groups of transactions that aren't true spending are automatically removed from your budget calculations, giving you a much clearer picture of your actual monthly expenditure.
Why would I exclude an entire category?
Excluding a category is useful for preventing certain types of money movement from distorting your spending habits.
- Investment Tracking: You can exclude the "Investments" category so that money you put into your investment accounts is not counted as an expense that causes you to go over budget.
- Transfer Movements: You can exclude the "Transfers" category to prevent internal money movements (like sending money between your current and savings accounts) from being double counted in your expenses and income.
- Irregular Large Expenses: You may choose to exclude categories like "Taxes" or "Mortgage Principal" if you want your budget to focus purely on discretionary, day to day spending.
Thank you for outlining those steps. That provides a much more precise and complete guide for our users.
Here is the revised, accurate instruction set focusing on the Edit Budget Screen entry point:
