Need to make edits to your budget? Committed spending is used to calculate how much you have left to spend for the month and it is the payments Emma predicts will happen in your period for your budget. Committed Spending can be found in the Budgeting section of Emma Feed tab. Your upcoming payments are sourced from Recurring payments section in your Feed tab. Rolling Budgets allow you to transfer leftover budget allowances to your next budget period. For example, you have a £200 monthly grocery budget but you only spent £160 this month. For example, if you get paid on the last working day of each month you can set your period to this so you can track your spending throughout your pay cycle. Your 'left of' from your total budget is always different from your available balance from your primary bank account. These two numbers, despite sounding similar, indicate two completely different concepts. Your 'left of' is what's remaining from the total budget you have set in Emma; this is computed by taking your total budget and subtracting both committed and past spending. There are two ways we suggest for how you may want to work out your budget. If you want to budget for a certain amount so you have funds remaining to save or pay off debts you can calculate your budget like this: To keep things simple let's say you earn £1000 per month after tax and want to save £100 each month. You can set your total budget as £900 so you aim to stick to only spending this amount which leaves you with £100 to use for your savings or paying off debts.
